B.Sc. Psychology (Hons.)

The B.Sc. Psychology Honours program at Rajagiri College of Social Sciences is meticulously crafted to cater to the escalating need for psychologists across various professional arenas. This program is committed to molding socially conscious and empathetic psychologists, equipped to address the mental health concerns and aspirations of the community with effective interventions.

Our program is experiential in nature, placing a strong emphasis on learning and skill-building to enhance employability. It lays a robust foundation for students’ future careers. The overarching aim of the program is to equip students to excel as professionals in mental health settings, academicians, or distinguished researchers. Our graduates are prepared to make significant contributions to the field of psychology and the communities they serve.

Programme duration

The B.Sc Psychology (Hons.) program is a four-year (Eight semesters) academic program, with an option for exit in the third year with a Bachelor's degree.

B.Sc.PROGRAM OUTCOME (PO)

PO1: Our graduates will understand, analyse and communicate the mental health needs of individuals (CONCEPTUAL CLARITY & COMMUNICATION)

PSO1a: Our graduates will have knowledge to analyse mental health needs of individuals with the help of theoretical knowledge and assessment tools and methods.

PSO1b: Our graduates will have knowledge to arrive at conclusions on the psychological issues and communicate and report with minimum errors.

PO2: Our graduates will have knowledge about various Psychological assessment tools and methods and their application. (ASSESSMENT SKILL)

PSO2a: Our graduates will have knowledge on theory, procedure and application of various Psychological instruments in research and real life settings.

PSO2b: Our graduates will have knowledge on various methods of data collection such as interview, observation, survey and so on. 

PO3: Our graduates will have the skill to conduct relevant research related to mental health. (RESEARCH/PROBLEM SOLVING)

PSO3a: Our graduates will have knowledge to formulate research problems and to design research methods to meet the objectives of the research problem.

PSO3b: Our graduates will have the skill to analyse data and write reports.

PO4: Our graduates will have competency to respond to the needs of the community in a socially responsible manner. (SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY)

PSO4a: Our graduates will be sensitive to the mental health and social issues of various vulnerable groups in the community. 

PSO4b: Our Graduates will be able to study the mental health and social needs of the community using theoretical knowledge and practical knowledge developed through internship and field visits.
