Aditya-the Solar Shop is established in 1999 as a sales-cum-service outlet for various solar products sponsored by Ministry of Non-conventional Energy Sources (MNES) , Govt. of India and managed by Rajagiri College of Social Sciences, Kalamassery. The products from various manufacturers as per Govt. of India specifications are sold through ADITYA at moderate and margin free rates.

  • Provide lighting facilities to remote un-electrified households by
  • Installation of 3800 Solar Home Lighting Systems 
  • Installation of 5000 Solar Lanterns

Provide Community Lighting and Water Supply in Remote and Un-electrified hamlets by

  • Installation of 119  Solar Street Lighting Systems
  • Installation of  12 Solar Pump sets

Helps the progress of the nation considerably through energy saving by

  • Installation of  More than 25000 Litres Per Day Solar Water Heating System 
  • Installation of  3 Solar Power Generating Systems above 1 KVA

Milestones

  • 1997 Begining of Mundanmudi Village Electrification Programme with Solar Power (Biggest of its kind in Asia) with the financial assistance from Govt. of Japan under GGP.  
  • 1999 Inauguration of Aditya – the Solar Shop

  • 2001 Introduction of Vidyadeepam Project
  • 2002 Introduction of Franchisee System 
  • 2002-2003 & 2004-2005 100 % target Achievement of MNES Allocation 
  • 2005 a National Seminar on Renewable Energy Inaugurated by Shri. Vilas Babu Rao Muttemwar, Hon’ble Union Minister of State (I.C.)
  • 2006 Facilitated the District Level Energy Park at Rajagiri School of Engineering and Technology.

Definitely it gives an opportunity to the Business Administration Students to have an experience in various Business Promotion Activities and gives an insight to the Social Work Students regarding the usage of Appropriate Technology in Rural Electrification and Energy Saving.

The profit of the organistaion is shared for the Social Initiatives taken up by Rajagiri College of Social Sciences like Sponsorship Assistance to the Underprivileged Children.
