
CHILDLINE 1098-Kochi
CHILDLINE is a national 24-hour free phone emergency and outreach service for children in difficult circumstances linking children to long-term services through the telephone number 1098. The Kochi CHILDLINE began it services from March21, 2001 with the grant in aid from Ministry of Women and Child Development through CHILDLINE India Foundation. Rajagiri College acts as the Nodal and Don Bosco Snehabhavan, Palluruthy as the Collab.
Aim
Protection of Child Rights
Objective

To reach out to every child in need of care and protection by responding to emergencies on 1098.

To provide a platform of networking amongst organisations and to provide linkages to support systems that facilitate the rehabilitation of children in need of care and protection.

To work together with different Allied systems Police,Health Care, Juvenile Justice, Transport, Legal, Education, Communication, Media, Political and the Community) to create child friendly systems.

To advocate for services for children that are inaccessible, non existent or inadequate.

To create a family of NGOs and Government organisations working within the framework of a national vision and policy for children.

Child Participation workshop conducted on 8th October 2005 at children’s park, Ernakulam.The major focus of this programme is to ensure the participation and expression of their Views regarding their rights
CHILDLINE Call Statistics
CHILDLINE handled a total of 94359 intervention calls viz., Medical (82), Shelter (1578), Restoration (162), Rescue (393), Sponsorship (255), Child Lost (98), Parents Asking Help (217), Emotional Support and Guidance (9100), Information and Referral to Services (34019) and Others – silent, unidentified etc (48455).
