Entrepreneurship Development Cell: Towards a nation’s development…

In the present economic scenario the development of our nation is envisioned through small and medium scale industries and through entrepreneurial endeavors of various magnitudes across industries. Entrepreneurship thus is seen as the most important element in our nation’s growth and future. Entrepreneurship initiatives in rural areas will increase the standard of living in today’s neglected rural sector. India’s future lies in the economic development through small and medium industries rather than the big conglomerates that rule the world and only cater to a fraction of the society, which is cash rich. For the poor and middle-income man the small and medium industries will be the resource provider at various levels of the value chain. This economic disparity has increased the importance of entrepreneurship. The remedy for economic inequality is thus to a great extent is entrepreneurship.

Rajagiri College of Social Sciences with a great history of relentless pursuit for excellence in education and social development has taken the idea of progress through entrepreneurship to heart and started Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC). The EDC has started working at Rajagiri College of Social Sciences in the beginning of the year 2005. Fr. Joseph M. K is the coordinator to the Cell and has been instrumental in every way from the very beginning of the EDC. From the very first days itself EDC with a great vision has collaborated with Entrepreneurship Development Institute in India (EDII), Ahmedabad to conduct a correspondence course, Open Learning Program in Business Entrepreneurship (OLPE). Rajagiri is the Collaborative agency for EDII in Kerala. A Professor have been appointed on full time basis in the Cell for steering the programs of the Cell.
