Title: Skill development programme for interdependent micro-entrepreneurial clusters

Products and processes developed as part of the ICSSR-IMPRESS Project

1.Coconut value-added products: Virgin coconut oil, Desiccated coconut, Coco jelly, Coconut chips, Coconut milk, Coconut sod, Coconut candy, Coconut ladoo, Coconut cookies, Coconut burfi, Coconut vinegar.
2.Coconut shell based products: Eco-friendly ice cream cups, coconut bowl, Decorative lamps, Eco-friendly steam cake maker (Puttu maker).
3.Coconut husk based products: Coconut jug, Bath scrubber, Loofah, Bottle brushes, Handicraft items.
4.Coconut leaf based products: Polymerized coconut leaf based roofing and flooring tiles, Eco-friendly pen stand.

A training programme was conducted on mushroom cultivation to Self Help Groups

A skill Development Programme

A skill development programme was conducted for interdependent micro-entrepreneurial clusters as part of ICSSR-IMPRESS project held on 22 March 2021

A Training Programme

A training programme was conducted on mushroom cultivation jointly by the Department of Biosciences and Rajagiri Staff Welfare Association (RSWA) to Rajagiri Staff and Faculty (14 beneficiaries) held on 26 November 2021

A Training Programme

A training programme was conducted on mushroom cultivation for the  participants from Thrissur District (17 beneficiaries) conducted on 08 December 2021

A Reorientation Programme

A reorientation programme was conducted on mushroom cultivation for some beneficiaries who have dropped the mushroom cultivation and wanted to restart (8 beneficiaries) conducted on 21 December 2021

A Training Programme

A training programme was conducted on mushroom cultivation organized by the Rajagiri Outreach Department and sponsored by the Carborandom Universal Ltd., Kalamassery (20 beneficiaries) conducted on 14 January 2022

KSCSTE-BIRD Project

KSCSTE-BIRD Project

Title: Socio-economic Empowerment of Rural Women of Ernakulam District through Agri-entrepreneurship Development

Funding Agency: Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE), Thiruvananthapuram

Duration: 2022-2023 (1 year)

Mushroom Cultivation Training as part of KSCSTE-BIRD Project

One-day mushroom cultivation training programmes were organized as part of the KSCSTE-BIRD funded project for the 18 women beneficiaries from Kanjoor Gramapanchayath and 21 women beneficiaries from Keezhmadu Gramapanchayath on 16.09.2022 and 18.10.2022 respectively.

DNA workshop

DNA workshop: July to August 2022

A DNA workshop has been conducted for 71 plus-two students of Rajagiri Public School in 4 batches on 16-07-2022, 23-07-2022, 30-07-2022, and 06-08-2022. The workshop enabled the students to get trained on various techniques and tools of molecular biology.

Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBSC)

Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBSC) was constituted at Rajagiri College which was approved by the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, GOI. Held on 01 september 2021

First IBSC meeting was conducted and 3 R&D projects were approved

DSIR Research Advisory Board meeting

DSIR Research Advisory Board meeting: 29th March 2022.

Rajagiri DSIR-SIRO advisory board meeting was organized by Biosciences on 29th March 2022 at 11.15 am in Old Block Board Room. Dr. Binoy Joseph, the Principal welcomed the members to the meeting, followed by the self-introduction of all the members. Dr. S. Antony Ceasar briefed on DSIR recognition to Rajagiri College of Social Sciences, the formation of an advisory board and the benefits of DSIR-SIRO recognition including tax/customs duty exemption for equipment purchase. Fr. Dr. S. Ignacimuthu asked the concerned members of the faculty to present the details of the research and publications. Dr. S. Ignacimuthu suggested many strategies for the promotion of research and publications in RCSS. Dr. Binoy Joseph proposed a vote of thanks.
